Consumers who may have the above mentioned ski bindings may return them to any Intersport store (Mercator shopping centres) in BiH for a free replacement.
After finding out about the announcement of voluntary and precautionary recall of TECNOpro-branded ski bindings, models TL 70, TL 80, TL 70 SP, TL 80 SP AND TL 70 SR, published on the international website of Intersport sports chain stores (www.intersport.com), Market Surveillance Agency of BiH contacted the office of Intersport BiH in Sarajevo.
In accordance with legal obligation of notification of dangerous products to the competent authority by producers and distributors, prescribed by the Law on General Product Safety, Market Surveillance Agency requested that Intersport provides available data on affected ski bindings from its sales range.
Upon receiving the notification form for notification of dangerous products from Intersport BiH, it was determined that two affected product models (TECNOpro TL 70 and TL 80) were available in Intersport stores in BiH. Intersport BiH undertook the following measures:
1. withdrawal of the affected product models and replacement with the faultless products;
2. publishing the announcement on recall of ski bindings and replacement with new products in Intersport stores (Mercator shopping centres) in BiH.
Market Surveillance Agency of BiH drew Intersport’s attention to their obligation of publishing notification of dangerous products in the media, in order to make information available to as many consumers. Intersport BiH published the announcement on December 24th 2009, on their website: www.mercator.ba, and in daily newspaper Dnevni avaz, on December 25th, 2009.
We are forwarding the complete announcement by Intersport BiH:
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
SALOMON SAS HAS DECIDED TO CARRY OUT A VOLUNTARY AND PRECAUTIONARY RECALL OF THE TOE PIECES OF THE BELOW LISTED MODELS OF TECNOpro-BRANDED SKI BINDINGS, PRODUCED BETWEEN JULY AND OCTOBER 2008.
In certain circumstances, the toe components of the below listed models may not fully secure the ski boot into the binding, possibly causing the binding to release inadvertently, posing a falling risk to the skier.
The affected ski bindings were manufactured by Salomon and share the same toe components construction.
The toe components of the following models are affected:
TECNOpro branded models: * TL 70 i TL 80
The ski bindings included in the recall all bear a manufacture date code ending in "8" (indicating the year 2008). This code is located on the central section of the binding toe piece, at the place where the ski boot comes into contact with the toe piece.
Consumers should not disassemble the bindings. Consumers should bring the TECNOpro TL 70 or TL 80 bindings to an INTERSPORT authorized Ski Dealer. Authorized dealers will replace the toe component of the listed bindings free of charge, with new toe components produced in 2009 that are compatible with the listed binding models.
