Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market inspections of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH completed joint market surveillance of electric battery chargers.

This is one of the six
groups of electrical products that are subject to surveillance under the Order on electrical equipment designed
for use within certain voltage limits (Official Gazette of BiH, 98/09), in
accordance with the Annual market surveillance plan for 2021.
The aim of the market surveillance was to determine whether the electric
battery chargers placed on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe to
use.
During the market surveillance, 10 inspection controls of electric battery
chargers were conducted. Inspectors performed administrative and visual control
of the products on the market and took 9 samples for laboratory testing on
suspicion that they do not meet all the applicable safety requirements.
Laboratory tests showed that 5 samples (55%) did not comply with the safety
requirements of the Order on electrical
equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits and posed risk of fire
and electric shock to consumers.
Risk assessment showed that 2 non-compliant products posed serious risk
to consumers. Therefore, withdrawal from the market, recall from consumers and
destruction of the non-compliant products were ordered, as well as the
obligation to inform consumers about the risks posed by the products and how to
return the affected products.
The non-compliances were removed in 3 types of the product and the
products were returned to the market.
In total, 16 products were withdrawn from the
market and destroyed, while the non-compliances were removed in 79 products.
